Wayne Dalton manufactures two different Torquemaster systems, and identifying which one you have is the first and most important step.

Torquemaster® vs Torquemaster® Plus: What’s the Difference?
Wayne Dalton has produced two versions of the enclosed Torquemaster spring system:
Torquemaster® (Original)

Torquemaster® and Torquemaster® Plus springs are not compatible.
What Is a Wayne Dalton Torquemaster® Plus Spring System?
Torquemaster® Plus springs are enclosed inside a steel tube mounted above the garage door. Instead of exposed torsion springs, the lifting force is generated by internal springs matched precisely to the door’s weight and height.
Because of this design, correct spring selection is critical, and Wayne Dalton part numbers must be matched exactly.
How to Use the Torquemaster® Plus Spring Chart
Step 1: Confirm Your Door Height
Torquemaster® Plus springs are sized by door height. Use the correct section of the chart:

7-foot high garage doors

8-foot high garage doors
Using the wrong height will result in improper door balance.
Step 2: Check for the Torquemaster® Information Sticker
Many Wayne Dalton Torquemaster® Plus systems include a factory-installed sticker on or near the spring tube. This sticker often provides:

Door height
-
Door weight
-
Spring configuration (single or dual)
-
Original spring part numbers
If your door has this sticker, it is the best and fastest way to identify the correct replacement springs.

Step 3: Determine Your Door Weight
If the sticker is missing or unreadable, door weight can be determined by:

Disconnecting the opener

Carefully lowering the door
-
Using a scale or estimating based on door construction
Once the weight range is known, locate it in the chart under the correct door height.
Step 4: Choose Single or Dual Torquemaster® Plus Springs
The chart lists two possible configurations:
Single Spring (Right-Hand Wound)
Typically used on lighter doors.
Dual Spring Set (Left-Hand + Right-Hand Wound)
Used on heavier doors for better balance, smoother operation, and reduced wear. Dual springs are generally recommended when available.
Understanding Left-Hand and Right-Hand Wound Springs
Torquemaster® Plus systems require specific winding directions:

Left-hand wound (LH) springs install on the left side of the center bracket

Right-hand wound (RH) springs install on the right side
Installing the incorrect winding direction will prevent proper operation.

You do not need to calculate these values. The chart already matches these specifications to the correct door weight and height.
