Garage Door Rollers
9 products
Rollers for garage doors fall into 3 general types, you have metal rollers, plastic rollers, and nylon rollers. We offer rollers for residential garage doors and for commercial overhead doors. Most standard sized rollers are 2” size the actual size is slightly smaller, but for sizing purposes rollers come in 2” and 3” sizes the actual size is ¼” shorter. The shafts diameter on modern garage door rollers have been standardized to the same size of 7/16”. All though the material of the roller has an impact on sound reduction, the amount of ball bearings also helps aid in reduction of noise, and life span. Note having more bearings will also increase the cost of the rollers, so all these are factors into the decision making of which rollers are right for you.
Plastic Rollers: Cost Effective, Shortest Life Span of the three primary materials, Smaller load capacity, no ball bearings. These are standard for most builders due to the low-cost effectiveness.
Steel Rollers: Rust Resistant, Longer Life Span, Higher Load Capacity, Less Cost than nylon rollers, they make more noise than Nylon rollers, Require frequent lubrication.
Nylon Rollers: Quieter than Steel Rollers, Shorter Life Span than Steel, Slightly more expensive than steel rollers, less maintenance. Higher end Nylon Rollers have sealed ball bearings which require virtually no maintenance over there increased lifetime.
