What Does D400-96 Mean? The D400-96 is a standard-lift cable drum commonly used on garage doors up to 8' high. The drum winds and stores the lift cable as the torsion shaft rotates, allowing the cables on both sides of the door to raise and lower the door evenly.
Left vs. Right: Drum orientation is determined while standing inside the garage and looking outward toward the driveway. The red 0121229 is the left-hand drum, while the black 0121230 is the right-hand drum.
Replace Drums as a Pair: When replacing worn or damaged cable drums, matching left- and right-hand drums should be used so both sides have the same cable groove profile and operating characteristics.
