Basic Programming Process
- Locate the opener’s LEARN button or DIP-switch controls.
- Identify the opener brand and the corresponding programming ID.
- Choose a personal four-digit PIN.
- Enter the PIN and opener ID into the keypad.
- Activate the opener’s LEARN or programming mode.
- Complete the pairing sequence and test the keypad before mounting it.
Programming Varies by Opener: The correct programming sequence depends on the opener brand, manufacturing period, LEARN-button color, frequency, or DIP-switch arrangement. Follow the instructions supplied with the keypad for the exact opener type.
One-Button Operation: After a valid PIN is entered, the keypad may allow the door to be operated again with a single button for approximately 15 seconds. This makes it easier to stop or reverse the door without re-entering the complete PIN.
Not Compatible with Every Opener: The word “universal” does not mean the 387LM works with every garage door opener. Some older fixed-code systems, newer proprietary radio systems, commercial operators, gate operators, and non-listed brands may be incompatible.
Safety Sensors Required: Use this keypad only with a garage door opener equipped with properly installed and functioning photoelectric safety sensors near the bottom of the door tracks. An opener without compliant safety sensors should be replaced rather than operated with a new wireless accessory.
Installation Location
Install the keypad at least 5 feet above the floor, out of the reach of small children, away from all moving door components, and where the garage door is clearly visible. Leave approximately 4 inches of clearance above the keypad so the protective cover can open fully.
